An Introduction to Dry Screed Panels
Dry screed panels are slim re-inforced gypsum fibre panel/panels that look and feel like a screed or concrete floor when installed. Unlike traditional screeds that are wet and require extended drying times, “dry” screed panels can be installed quickly and receive floor treatments within hours. The panels are used in the construction industry for soundproofing and underfloor heating purposes. They are suitable for both new build and refurbishment developments.
Construction Applications
Soundproofing Dry Screed Panels

Dry screed panels are typically used as an acoustic flooring solution. Combined with a resilient layer, they are extremely effective at reducing impact and airborne noise to meet Part E Building Regulations. The panels high density make them particularly effective at eliminating impact noise. Combined with a resilient layer the panels can eliminate both airborne and impact noise.
The popularity of dry screed panels for acoustic purposes has developed from a need to soundproof lightweight timber frame developments. These type of constructions typically lack mass, making it necessary to install a soundproofing solution to meet Building Regulations.
Traditionally the mass required to soundproof a timber floor is achieved through the installation of a deep acoustic batten system, which consists of a 70mm acoustic batten and additional layers. This type of solution can add significant height to a floor and reduce room space. Below it is possible to see the difference in floor build up when an acoustic batten or dry screed panel system.

Spacing Saving Screed Panels
Dry screed panels provide the mass required without adding significant height to a floor. These type of panels add 28mm to the overall floor height compared to 107mm for an equivalent performance acoustic batten system.
They are also used frequently on concrete and steel floors. Dry screed panels can save time and floor space compared to wet screed floors. Wet screed floors take multiple days to dry and are between 40-60mm in height.

Underfloor Heating
Dry screed panels can also be used for underfloor heating purposes, either as a combined soundproofing and underfloor heating system or standalone. Dry screed panels may also feature profile routing for underfloor heating pipes to be installed. The underfloor heating panels feature high thermal conductivity properties which allows them to retain and transmit heat when a user demands.
They are provide greater efficiency than chippanel flooring and are ideal for wet room applications such as bathrooms and kitchens where underfloor heating systems are frequently installed.
